*Obit by Karl*
Where to start...
Zeus was only with us for a short time, though in that time he
became boss of our rat room, and had a character you couldn't
ignore. He was very much more *my rat* than Laura's, and he
totally adored me, and used to run to the bars whenever I came
in the room and beg for fuss and attention :*) . He was such a
handsome cuddly boy.
He sired two beautiful litters with us while he was here, and
they all have his wonderful character, all very cheeky and
bouncy and mad :*) . Sadly recently he came down with a nasty
illness, we're not sure what at the moment, and he rapidly went
downhill, and couldn't fight it off :*( he was too young
really. We had a hard struggle trying to bring him back to
health, but sadly he just wasn't able to fight anymore, and he
passed away this morning.
He was such a pretty boy, with a lovely colour, and everyone who
visited would ask what he was, and fell in love straight away.
It's just so hard to believe that he's gone, as we spent so much
time with him, so many nights awake with him, making sure he was
getting enough fluids etc, and that he was warm enough. When you
spend so long caring for someone/something, it's very strange
when they're not there any more.
Goodbye gorgeous Zeus, play hard at the bridge, you deserve a
rest now.
and this song seemed so fitting for him
*Sound of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel*
Hello darkness, my old friend,
I've come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
'neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
And in the naked light I saw
Ten thousand people, maybe more.
People talking without speaking,
People hearing without listening,
People writing songs that voices never share
And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.
Fools said I, you do not know
Silence like a cancer grows.
Hear my words that I might teach you,
Take my arms that I might reach you.
But my words like silent raindrops fell,
And echoed
In the wells of silence
And the people bowed and prayed
To the neon God they made.
And the sign flashed out its warning,
In the words that it was forming.
And the signs said, the words of the prophets
Are written on the subway walls
And tenement halls.
And whispered in the sounds of silence.
