I’m not sure what to
say about Vince… he was the most amazing laid back lad… so utterly
loving and friendly to everyone who met him. He was quiet, unassuming
and gentle all the time. He was a gorgeous kitten, and we had high hopes
for him, but he seemed to get rather sick with respiratory problems when
he was about 4 months old. His cagemate Zeus was very ill at that time,
and the pair were ferried to the vets on a regular basis, with neither
making any progress, and Zeus getting worse. Eventually, Zeus passed on,
and immediately, Vince was better. Literally within hours. And he never
so much as sneezed again. It’s like he was ill due to the stress of his
friend being ill :*) We decided not to breed from him because of this,
until he was much older and still perfectly well, and then we thought
that seeing as he’d gotten over his illness, he was probably a suitable
candidate. Vinnie bear had other ideas though, and was called a Jaffa on
more than one occasion – he just wasn’t a family man!
Vince was always far happier with the lads, plenty of friendly male
jostling was what kept him going – and he was never far from his brother
Hobo or his various nephews and other cage mates.
He was such a gorgeous lad… and although not very young, certainly not
as old as I would have liked. He will be very sorely missed by all who
knew and loved him. :*(
Run free beautiful boy, go and find your mum and dad, and all your
brothers and sisters already at the bridge :*(
For Vince, because he was named after the artist – and the song is
uplifting and fitting, as he’s gone to the ‘rockin’ party’ at the bridge
:*)
Say Mama – Gene Vincent -
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-H7VXMEaA4
Say mama, can I go out tonight?
Say mama, will it be alright?
They got a rockin' party goin' down the street
Say mama, can't you hear that beat?
Woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woah, yeah.
Say mama, don't you look that way
'Cause I know just what you're going to say
Well mama, well don't be mad
You're gonna say, Go ask your dad
Woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woah
(Aww...go)
Say mama, don't you look that way
'Cause I know just what you're going to say
Well mama, well don't be mad
You're gonna say, Go ask your dad
Woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa.
(All right now)
Yeah, Say mama, can I go out tonight?
Say, mama, will it be alright?
They got a rockin' party goin' down the street
Say mama, can't you hear that beat?
Woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa
Yeah, Woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa
Yeah, Woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa, woah, woa-hoo-hoo-hoo, woa.
And because he was still a young lad, this fitting song was ideal for
him :*( I shall miss him so much… run free beautiful man… run free
Ol’ 55 – Tom Waits -

Well my time went so quickly
I went lickety splitly
Out to my ol’ 55
As I pulled away slowly,
Feeling so holy
God knows I was feeling alive
Now the sun’s coming up
I’m riding with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Stars beginning to fade
And I lead the parade
Just a wishing I’d stay a little longer
Oh lord let me tell you that the feeling’s getting stronger
And at 6 in the morning
Gave me no warning
I had to be on my way
Well there’s trucks all a passing
And lights all a flashing
I’m on my way home from your place
And now the sun’s coming up
I’m riding with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Stars beginning to fade
And I lead the parade
Just a wishing I’d stay a little longer
Oh lord let me tell you the feeling’s getting stronger
And my time went so quickly
I went lickety splitly
Out to my ol’ 55
As I pulled away slowly,
Feeling so holy
God knows I was feeling alive
And now the sun’s coming up
I’m riding with Lady Luck
Freeway cars and trucks
Freeway cars and trucks
Freeway cars and trucks…
