It is with a very heavy heart that I say goodbye to little Valdez. A tiny little chap from the beginning. Valdez had never been very healthy bless him. He was smaller than his brothers, and when I went to pick them up, he had no home to go to, and I fell for him and his cheeky personality and brought him home too. All three brothers were ill soon after I brought them back, but usually manage to fight off their recurring illnesses, Valdez however has never been quite as strong, and has been persistently ill ever since the first infection. About a week ago I noticed that he'd gone very white, and we tried him on all sorts of meds etc, and kept him in a heated tank, with loads of soft fods and water, and tried to bring him round, lots of cuddles etc... but he just gave in today at least we know he was warm and comfortable though, as he was curled up fast asleep.

I can't quite believe he's gone, he was far too young, and never even got to see his birthday. He was a fab little guy, with bags of personality and a lovely licky nature. He boggled and bruxxed all the time, always happy to be *with* people.

He leaves behind his two brothers, Be-Bop and NotA and cagemate Tomago - who are all missing him terribly, as are we... I just don't know how to feel at the moment, numb I guess. We've been through a lot with this little lad, so many sleepless nights watching him closely and cuddling him and feeding him up...

Goodbye little FerRat... we will miss you so much.

Valdez was such a quiet peaceful lad - there are no words fitting really... no song lyrics.

So here's the song/piece he was named after - Outrage at Valdez by Frank Zappa:
