Past Pets
We
have decided to only remember here, the pets that we have lost since we
have known each other, as if we were to go into the ones prior to that,
it would be too big a list, also we don't have photos of a lot of the
older pets.

Buffy Chinchilla
|
 |
|
Buffy was the second chinchilla that Karl got originally, as a mate for
Chilly (rip), before he knew better than to breed from unknown lines. She's a flighty madam, and doesn't like to be
bothered. She's getting better, and doesn't mind handling too much, but
loves nothing more than running out in the hallway. She's had several
kits now, and won't have any more.
Buffy has gone back to Leeds to live with Karl's parents, as we
felt the move to Ireland would be far too stressful for all the
chinchillas. |

Shelldon Chinchilla
|

|
|
Shelldon was Misty's litter brother and a little menace! He's a nippy
boy, but not nasty, or even nervous, he just nips you to make you let
him go. He's very impatient! He's a big fluffy lad though, and quite
entertaining to watch. He has always ruled the roost!

Pepper Chinchilla |

|
|
Pepper was an older kit of Buffy and Chilly's from a previous litter. He
was kept not only because of his lovely temperament and pretty colour,
but because as a baby he had a facial abscess due to getting food stuck
in his mouth. We decided not to let him go after that. He's definitely
the underdog in the cage, but a darling nonetheless. By far the most
handleable!

Misty
Chinchilla
(at the
back) |

|
|
Sadly we lost Misty, one of our chinchillas today. She has been
fighting through some very bad tooth problems over the last week
to 2 weeks and today she finally gave up. despite lots of
effort, teeth clipping, filing, soft food and medications it
just wasn't enough. she had been slowly going downhill for a
little while now and just when we had decided that it was about
time to call it a day i found that she had passed peacefully in
her bed.
She was a special little girl always that bit friendlier than
her mum and was far too young to die. She was always very quiet
and placid compared to her brothers who far more enjoy keeping
us awake at night. She had a very long tail - far longer than
any of the other chins we've had and it curled right up over her
back like a little spitz dog. This was always the quickest way
to tell her apart from her mum at a distance as at times they
could look very similar. The following song seemed fitting as
she spent the last week clinging to her mum who looks like a
little fluffy white cloud. Buffy is already missing her loads
and doesn't seem to know quite what to do.
She was a gorgeous little girl and will be sorely missed. The
house will be that little bit quieter now. R.I.P little girly.
Misty (as
sung by Ella)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oNDuH9IJhGA
Look at me, Im as helpless as
a kitten up a tree;
And I feel like Im clinging to a cloud,
I can t understand
I get misty, just holding your hand.
Walk my way,
And a thousand violins begin to play,
Or it might be the sound of your hello,
That music I hear,
I get misty, the moment youre near.
Cant you see that youre leading me on?
And its just what I want you to do,
Dont you notice how hopelessly Im lost
Thats why Im following you.
On my own,
When I wander through this wonderland alone,
Never knowing my right foot from my left
My hat from my glove
Im too misty, and too much in love.
Too misty,
And too much
In love.....

Pricey and
Costley |

 |
|
These lovely boys were pigs that we got from a petshop 2 years
ago, as they were both suffering severe sarcoptic mange. Looking
back I wouldn't have repeated my actions, as I do not agree with
buying from petshops for any reason, however, I did do it, and
they stayed with me for 2 years trying to find a new home.
Eventually they found the perfect home in the form of Laura (Wildjasmine)
and they are now called Brock and Brego. I honestly couldn't be
happier with their new home! |

Don Quixote |
 |
|
Donkey was a sweet little chap who came to us along with Dumas.
They got along really well, far better than most male mice, and
they were best friends until Dumas passed away. He was a very
very pretty little chap, with really striking markings - and
loved his mini hammock. He is sadly missed and hopefully he's
playing with Dumas at the bridge. |

Dumas |
 |
|
Dumas was one of a pair of mice brought to us by Laura Dobson
after she decided she no longer wanted them. I had vowed not to
have any more mice - but these little fellas needed a home, and
I had a spare cage - and so I said that I would take them
both. Dumas was supposed to be burmese - but
he also looked chocolate! I don't know enough about mouse
varieties to tell! he was a gorgeous little man, and such a
sweet natured, gentle little mouse. He is very very sorely
missed. |

|
|
Porthos |
 |
|
Porthos was a little female millipede, smaller than Athos was.
She loved a relatively easy and lazy life, burrowing in her
earth, and snoozing under wet logs and leaves, she'll be greatly
missed, as it's odd not to have any millipedes around now. |

|
Cervantes |
 |
|
Cervantes was such a friendly, happy little man... always happy
to see us - never to bite or grumble about his lot - just such a
shame that no-one ever wanted to offer him a permanent loving
home. He was such a sweet little chap - and he gave me a good
few months of gratitude for being his friend - and giving him
his own palatial cage, and feeding him branflakes which he
loved. |

|
|
|
Aramis |
 |
|
Aramis was a little dove coloured mouse
who came to us in 2004. He was a very sweet little chap. He was
always on the go, and never suffered any ill health - and died
peacefully at the ripe old age of about 20 months! |
|
|
|
|
Chilly |
 |
|
Chilly was a very special little
chinchilla, who had been with Karl for 6 years. He was a lovely
violet boy, and sired several kits in his short life. He was a
wonderful cuddly boy to the end, loving cake, and runs in the
hallway. He is very sadly missed. |
|
|
|
|
Athos |
 |
|
Athos was a gentle giant! The biggest of our two millipedes,
Athos was only with us for a year, and was very much loved in
that time. Nothing he loved more than a good bit of veg,
especially cucumber! He is very sadly missed. |

|
|
Stan |
 |
|
Stan was a very special little dog. He was a cross
Labrador/collie – and very very special to all of us. He was a
crazy boy – always ready to play! Sadly his life was ended all
too soon – when he was hit by a car full of boy racers on new
years eve 2005 in the dead of night, in our driveway. We will
miss him very much indeed. |
