Where to
begin...
Moon was a
wonderful little
girl... from the
day we picked
her up at
Cardiff Show
2006 - where she
squeaked loudly
whenever we
stroked her...
out of sheer
pleasure, and
made everyone
turn to stare
right up until
the evening we
had her put to
sleep - when she
licked me just
before we took
her into the
consulting room.
She was very
special, and is
the subject of
one of my
favourite photos
- and the one
photo I've had
more people
smile at and
comment on than
any other:

She was a funny
little spark,
always so gentle
with everyone,
yet so lively.
She went through
a phase at about
9 months old of
not wanting to
be bothered, and
when you went to
pick her up she
would squeal and
shoot off, and
stare at you
from the back
corners of the
cage,
scowling... as
if to say "I was
busy - GO AWAY!"
But she would
always
eventually
decide that
perhaps a cuddle
would be nice
after all :*)
She used to love
having stories
read to her
too... it may
sound mad, but
when we still
had a rat room
with a sofa etc,
we would sit up
there and read
aloud to them,
and Moon was
always in the
same spot, on a
shelf in the
corner of her
cage, waiting,
and as we read,
she would boggle
and brux away.
She got quite
upset if we
didn't go up of
an evening :*)
Everyone who met
Moon loved her,
I got regular
e-mails from my
website, with
people saying
how much they
loved her and
how pretty she
was. I do
remember though,
that her babies
put me off
dumbos!
They were cute,
in a pathetic
sort of way, but
not 'attractive'
She was the
mother of our
first litter,
and has outlived
a fair few of
them :*( So
hopefully,
they'll be there
to comfort her
the other side.
Sergeant Pepper
- her Russian

Berkshire son,
Drumbo, her

Onyx - her

Dumbo daughter,
Stardust - her

Moonchild - her
Rusian Blue

free with them
Moon... you've
done so well.
And find your
missing siblings
too...
expecially
Princess, you've
not been the
same without
her.
and for her...
this song...
what else?
The Whole of the
Moon - Waterboys:
I pictured a
rainbow
You held in your
hands
I had flashes
But you saw then
plan
I wondered out
in the world for
years
While you just
stayed in your
room
I saw the
crescent
You saw the
whole of the
moon!
The whole of the
moon!
You were there
at the
turnstiles
With the wind at
your heels
You stretched
for the stars
And you know how
it feels
To reach too
high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the
whole of the
moon!
I was grounded
While you filled
the skies
I was
dumbfounded by
truths
You cut through
lies
I saw the
rain-dirty
valley
You saw
brigadoon
I saw the
crescent
You saw the
whole of the
moon!
I spoke about
wings
You just flew
I wondered, I
guessed, and I
tried
You just knew
I sighed
But you swooned
I saw the
crescent
You saw the
whole of the
moon!
The whole of the
moon!
With a torch in
your pocket
And the wind at
your heels
You climbed on
the ladder
And you know how
it feels
To reach too
high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the
whole of the
moon!
The whole of the
moon!
Unicorns and
cannonballs,
Palaces and
piers,
Trumpets,
towers, and
tenemets,
Wide oceans full
of tears,
Flag, rags,
ferry boats,
Scimitars and
scarves,
Every precious
dream and vision
Underneath the
stars
You climbed on
the ladder
With the wind in
your sails
You came like a
comet
Blazing your
trail
Too high
Too far
Too soon
You saw the
whole of the
moon!
