Bongo Fury Rattery

Today we sadly had to let Fish go to the bridge. She appeared to have picked up an infection several months ago and has never really recovered fully. It started just after she had a litter with us in which she developed a head tilt for no apparent reason. she appeared fine in every other way. there must have obviously been some sort of infection that she picked up as it was transmitted on to all of her babies. Sadly only 3 survived (from 6) and all 3 have problems of their own. Despite being on AB's for a while and seeming to pretty much clear up completely there must still have been some sort of residual infection left as not too long ago it manifested itself behind one of her eyes. Despite treatment for this and constant TLC she rapidly declined and especially over the last couple of days it became apparent that nothing was going to get her over the infection. Today was the final straw and we decided that her struggle had gone on far too long with no chance of her coming around.

she was a wonderfully special girl, so friendly in every way. Licky doesn't even begin to describe her. She was a total sweetheart and a compliment to her breeder. She was always wonderful when intro'd to other rats and never really had any problems with anyone. She was just gentle and unassuming and sweet. It's such a shame that she had the misfortune of picking something so nasty up, and at far too young an age. She will be sorely missed by us and her family/cagemates.
