My gorgeous blue bear has gone :*(
Cletus was a wonderful lad... really sweet, quiet and
full of character. He was never one to much enjoy being
held, but loved to cuddle up. He was unassuming, gentle,
and always great with other rats - and I'm going to miss
him so much - as will his brother and cagemates.
I got Cletus and Waz at Christmas 2007, as they were to
be company for Brauti - who didn't stay with us anyway.
They were essentially 'stud fees' from Emma Jarratt - as
I bred both of the parents. They were both chirpy little
lads, full of bounce, and pretty close to each other
too. Cletus got on really well with every rat he lived
with, and in particular seemed close to his dad Hobo.
He was loaned to Nicola in 2008 for a litter with her
lovely Arianwen, and became the proud dad of some
gorgeous Blue and Blue Agouti kittens - which I know
some of you have had the pleasure of owning.
He was only 19 months - too young really, but I couldn't
let him carry on in the way he was as he'd gone downhill
so much within the last weekend :( He had a mass in his
abdomen, that was very well attached, and he was so
lethargic and unhappy :*( He went very peacefully at the
vets, which is some small consolation really - but at
least he's not in pain any more.
Run free my lovely boy - wait for Waz and Hobo at the
bridge - they'll be missing you so much.
The song he was named after, was, as is normal for us, a
very silly song - so the lyrics aren't really fitting.
Instead we've chosen: (it's a beautiful song, and I'd
love you to hear it, but I can't find it online/youtube
etc at the moment)
Rhythm of the Saints - Paul Simon.
If I have weaknesses
Don't let them blind me
Or camouflage all I am wary of
I could be sailing in seizures of laughter
Or crawling out from under the heel of love
Do my prayers remain unanswered
Like a beggar at your sleeve
Olodumare is smiling in heaven
Smiling in heaven I do believe
Reach in the darkness
A reach in the dark
Reach in the darkness
A reach in the dark
To overcome an obstacle or an enemy
To glide away from the razor or a knife
To overcome an obstacle or an enemy
To dominate the impossible in your life
Always a stranger when strange isn't fashionable
And fashion is rich people waving at the door
Or it's a dealer in drugs or in passion
Lies of a nature we've heard before
Do my prayers remain unanswered
Like a beggar at your sleeve
Balalu-aye spins on his crutches
Says leave if you want
If you want to leave
Reach in the darkness
A reach in the dark
A reach in the darkness
Reach in the dark
To overcome an obstacle or an enemy
To glide away from the razor or a knife
To overcome an obstacle or an enemy
To dominate the impossible in your life
Reach in the darkness
A reach in the dark
Reach in the darkness
A reach in the dark
To overcome an obstacle or an enemy
To dominate the impossible in your life
Reach in the darkness
A reach in the dark
Run free lovely lad :*(
