Chloe Denton
Chloe decided it was time to follow
her little sister Ratclyffe to the bridge. The 2 weeks has
been so hard for her without Ratclyffe to cuddle, to hold on
to, to play with, to protect and she just couldn't cope
without her. Even the love and companionship of her
cagemates Stella, Merryl, Julie, Judee and Iris wasn't a
consolation - and she left us peacefully. It was a quiet,
peaceful passing, blanketed up in our arms, as snug as a bug
in a rug... she never got to have her last millet stick
though... or enjoy the custard tart and chicken party we had
for Merryl and Stella's 1st birthday. but it was better that
she didn't suffer for any longer.
She had exactly the same symptoms as her sister Ratclyffe - untreatable lesions on the chest - 90% certain that it was tumours. Chloe was a special little lady and will be greatly - heavily, sorely missed. I don't think I will ever be able to look in the big girls cage now without bawling my eyes out and collapsing into sobs. She was such a special little rat... and her life was far too short... she and her sister were little over a year. I feel so helpless to do anything about this - and there was nothing I could do for them in their lives either - to get them through this illness. All I can do is hope that they haven't died in vain - and implore anyone who thinks it's a good plan to breed from just any old rat - DON'T - our two beautiful little ladies were the product of that - and the last months of their lives were sheer hell.
