Barbara has touched so many hearts, it's hard to know where to begin.

To Barb -
We 'rescued' you from a terrible petshop, before we knew that you couldn't call that 'rescue'. You were a simple breeding machine, having had at least 2 litters before we found you - frightened, a rat no-one was likely to buy. you were just a champagne bareback - nothing fancy - and against the huskies and dumbos in the shop, you didn't stand a chance at 9 months old. We brought you home, alone, because we didn't know better. By the end of the week we'd gotten you a friend though. It didn't work out sadly, and due to your fear - a very justified fear, you ended up living alone, and not knowing human hands for far too long. It was our fault. When nicola and Gwion met you for the first time, you were nothing more than a bag of bones, riddled with mites - we thought you were dying, and had no idea what to do. Thankfully Nicola told us that you were treatable, and we got you back to health. You were still a nervous bitey girl though.

It took us SO many months, but we got you back to health, and to actually like being handled to a certain extent. We eventually gave you two friends in the form of Bernice and Reenee, both old dears, and you saw them both pass away. I will never forget finding Reenee's body curled into the shape you'd left as you lay pressed against her trying to keep her warm. You were alone again. We tried to get you in with the younger girls - but they bullied you and beat you up, and you were just too old by this point to put up with that.

So we made the heavy, hard decision to let you go to a better home where you would have similar aged friends to snuggle and play with. I am still eternally grateful for Laura (Wildjasmine) giving you that second lease of life you so badly needed. She's a star for taking you on... and I know she will miss you *almost* as much as Karl and I.

Have fun at the rainbow, dear, sweet old lady, and may you be reunited with ALL those friends you have lost.

Wait for me old girl... wait for me....
