Genetics to knowledge: Aa dd rbrb (possibly carrying Mink, Chocolate and Dumbo)

Today we say goodbye to lovely old man Yeller - who as a Russian Silver Agouti, with CK in his later months, did really quite well to make it to over 21 months. I wish he'd lived longer, but he didn't do desperately badly all things considered. He was especially clingy and cuddly yesterday, so it was a bit of a warning.

Yeller was a lovely lad, really very sweet natured, and gentle. Too quiet almost, you would almost forget about him at times because he was so quiet and blended in to the background, and then when you had a cuddle, you knew he was special <3 Towards the end he became obsessed with any dog kibble in his food, it was his favourite part, and we'd have to take fatty Claxon out, so he could get some! He'd shovel bits into his mouth like it was his last meal :*)

It's a shame he never sired any litters for us, as I'd have loved to pass on his quiet gentleness, but at the same time of course, I'm glad as he's been rather ill. Still, he's at peace now, and hopefully reunited with brother Snake and cagemate Snatch - who I know he's missed. He's gone downhill a bit since Snatch passed away.

Run free lovely old man, free from illness now.

And the song for him... not really very fitting, but it is the dog we named him after I guess <3

Old Yeller:

Here Yeller
Come back, Yeller
Best doggone dog in the west

Old Yeller was a mongrel
An ugly, lop-eared mongrel
Fancy free without a family tree
But he could up and do it
And prove there's nothing to it
And that's how a good dog should be

Here Yeller
Come back, Yeller
Best doggone dog in the west

Old Yeller was a hunter
A rearin', tearin' hunter
In any chase he knew just how to run
And when he hunted trouble
He always found it double
And that's when Old Yeller had fun

Here Yeller
Come back, Yeller
Best doggone dog in the west

Old Yeller was a fighter
A rootin', tootin' fighter
In any scrap he knew just what to do
A rough and ready fellow
Although his coat was yellow
His bold Texas heart was true blue

Here Yeller
Come back, Yeller
Best doggone dog in the west
Here Yeller
Come back, Yeller
Best doggone dog in the west
Best doggone dog in the west

The best doggone rat in the West (of county Cork anyway...) :*)
