I can't
believe I'm writing
this - hardly any
time before her
second birthday
too... :*(
Peen was one of the
most special rats -
she meant the whole
world to me... she
was just...
everything I wanted
in a rat. She was so
friendly, so
outgoing, so
beautiful. She gave
us a gorgeous litter
of babies, who have
gone on to have
babies of their own
now too (sadly, none
of the ones we
kept). I'm currently
rejoicing because
her own
grand-daughters (Fozzy
and Weasle) have
litters... so I have
something to
remember her by.
She did amazingly at
show for a Silver
Agouti too - getting
Reserve Best In Show
at Cardiff 2008 when
she was just 8 weeks
old. She was just a
gorgeous rat - such
a beautiful colour -
and the most deep,
soulful eyes.
Everyone who met her
commented on just
how gorgeous she
was.
Peen was meant to be
called 'Reindeer'
actually... but
Nicola decided Peen
was better... ::) ;D
so it stuck! She was
Peen ever after -
I'm sure some
thought it rude, but
it was never
intended that way!
Peeny was such a
cuddly rat... she
went through so much
but never lost her
cuddly nature. She
developed a nasty
facial abscess at
just a year old, and
had to have it
lanced... she ended
up with malocclusion
and tooth decay. She
lost so much weight
- we were convinced
we would lose her -
but we fought and
fought with her, she
even lost a tooth,
and for the rest of
her life had a hole
through her jaw -
but she healed up
well, and gained
back all the weight
she'd lost - and
became Peen once
more - as opposed to
the listless
half-rat she'd
become.
Peen and I were very
close - she was
always one of the
first rats I would
cuddle in the shed -
because she was
always the first to
greet me... always
so gentle, she'd
lick me every time I
opened the cage. I'm
going to miss that
so much... :*(
I don't know what
I'll do without you
Peen. I'd always
hoped you'd go on
forever. The worst
bit is that lovely
Kirsch will be
missing you so much
right now - I don't
know how she'll cope
:*( You two had
bonded so well.
Run free gorgeous
lady...
