I just found my old man Ben in his cage... and I'm just numb...
I don't know what to feel. I only said goodbye to Ape a couple
of days ago.,.. and SNAFU and Troll not long before... it's been
a very bad couple of weeks indeed... :*(
Ben was 2 in July, so he made a good age - though not as good an age as his dad Tomago. He was my only dumbo left - and now I have no silly eared things to cuddle... :*(
Ben. Benny Benny Gay Gay... bless him. He was never meant to stay. We'd planned to keep two of his sisters and he was to go and live with one of the Agouti rescues in a new home. Sadly that fell through, and we decided not to breed dumbos anyway - and then someone wanted the two does we'd kept - so we kept Ben instead. We took him to the London Champs in 2007, and we ended up being talked into keeping him.
Ben was never an easy rat, he was endlessly friendly, but had his issues at times. He didn't get on well with other rats and could get nervy of strangers. He often got into fights, and whenever they involved his dad, he came off worse bless him. He eventually settled when he lived with Ape and co - as Ape was such a good alpha. They were so close - maybe Ape's death just made Ben give up a bit... :*(
He was healthy throughout his life, fit and a good weight until the end, so I have a lot to be thankful for I suppose - I'm only sorry I don't have any Ben babies to remember him by... :*(
Ben was a very special rat to me, like Ape, so I'm finding this very hard to write... I just want him back...
